Taste of Hunger

How often does one get an insider’s perspective on the woes and the miseries of an immigrant in a far away land? How often does one get to feel the pain and the shock of denial and basic human rights?

How often does one face the harsh reality of running away from a situation only to land in another that’s worse? How often does one get to see the underbelly of a country that appears to be civil at first but has laws that totally disregards the value of basic human life?

Princess Ayelotan is a woman in a man’s world and a survivor. Who better than her to understand and pen the plight of a woman being disdained as the weaker sex, pushed at the receiving end of a spewing crisis…across two continents. Caught in the crossfire of chaos and often pawned to pay for the evil laws of society and the men who rule it, Princess writes with a pain and pathos only a woman can understand and experience.

Princesses’ experience is first hand and her gift with words gives her the ability to weave an engaging story – which in parts reflects her own personal experiences- that enthralls the reader at one level and then shakes him with symbolism that’s simple and true to life.

‘Taste of Hunger’ is an ode to a woman’s spirit of survival and her fight against the odds…poverty, an abusive father, no women’s rights, an uncertain future and friends who betray the very trust that love brought together. Importantly, it also about a woman’s fight against the dominance of men who enslave helpless immigrants in the so called civil society of France under the garb of laws that supposedly was enacted to protect.

With profound experiences that bring back memories of absolute servitude Princess succeeds in jolting the reader bringing him face to face with issues that no longer can be ignored: tyranny and slavery still exist in the world. Women form the cornerstone of her oeuvre and the ‘Taste of Hunger’ is Princess’s second book which celebrates a woman’s fight against punitive and discriminatory laws and her determination and will to win…come what may.
